What did 𝐒𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐧 look like?

Sauron is one of the greatest fictional characters in the history of the world that we all love to see. The second dark lord of Arda. Those who couldn't wait to see Sauron again got him in the eighth episode of The Rings of Power. Not only with a big surprise. Most of the fans love that Sauron, but some may have some questions.

We saw a warlike, destructive Sauron in the movies. Why is he not like that?

Isn't Charlie Vickers too pretty for Sauron? If he is right, he must be evil, right?

Then we will not show Annatar? Why did Sauron take human form?

I am not going to talk about the last question from there. Because the reason for that cannot be confirmed yet. Maybe that name can be lost due to a rights issue. In any case, the next season cannot be said about that. But you can give specific answers to the first two questions.

We get to see Sauron with his armor at the beginning of the first of the three films of The Lord of The Rings, which we have been watching since childhood. And throughout the three films, Sauron is shown to us as a destructive, greedy, and evil dictator.

But we got to see such a person in The Rings of Power. He is a very calm, cunning, talented designer who can charm everyone with his story. In the series, he says that he wants to heal Middle Earth. So what is the truth? First let's see who this Sauron is.

⚒️ 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞.

Sauron is a person who existed before the beginning of the universe. To be precise, someone who contributed to the creation of the universe. He is a Maia. Those who don't know much about the history of Middle Earth can imagine that he is like an angel.

This Sauron is not a fierce, cruel, dark force from the beginning. In the beginning, he was on the side of the heroes of this universe. Sauron was a very skilled craftsman who worked under the Valar called Ulay. He is so talented that he can be said to be the best designer after Oule. That's why he was called Myron. The meaning of the name Myron is "admirable".

This admirable Myron had some very good qualities. He likes order. Someone who can plan well. Coordination skills were at such a high level. Myron doesn't like confusion. Very good behavior, isn't it? How did someone so good become a Dark Lord.

Think like this. You are very talented. People don't understand that where you work. Maybe your ability will not get a place. Then you get bored, don't you? When you are like that, you will meet someone who recognizes your potential. That person will motivate you to work for his company. He might be treating you really well. But what if he tells you not so good things? What if you don't realize it until it's too late?

This is what happened to Myron. Myron is a very orderly person. Working with the Valar, he began to feel that Morgoth knew his plans, abilities and order very well. It is also said that Morgoth persuaded Myron to work for him here.

This is how Myron, who was with the Valar and Elfly, joined Morgoth. He became Morgoth's most trusted servant. Those who hated Morgoth gave a gray name to the admirable Myron. That is Sauron. The name Sauron means "the abominable". This is an insulting name.

🎼 𝐒𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐝.

Sauron, who was a Maiar because of that name, suddenly put on armor and didn't become someone like we saw in the movies. A lot of things happened before he became that.

Almost until the end of the Second Age, Sauron did what he thought was right. When he lost the resources and light of Valinor, he went after dark forces and dark plans.

Morgoth was jealous and always tried to destroy what the Valar had built. But not Sauron. He didn't want to destroy the world, he wanted to make the world in the order he wanted and rule that world. He did not hesitate to overcome the obstacles he encountered while going for that goal, sometimes with cunning and sometimes with fierceness.

But there is evidence that Sauron is a very clever person throughout the history of Middle Earth. His magical ability is also very high. A good example of that is the Battle of Wizardry with Galadriel's brother Finrod. It's like the battle between Dream and Lucifer in The Sandman. Sauron and Finrod fight with magic instead of kicking with their hands.

Not only that, after Sauron captures the fortress of Minas Tirith (Minas Tirith of the first age) built by Finrod, he builds that fortress as he wants with his magic power. Luthiyan comes with Huan and breaks this magical power. When Sauron was in Minas Tirith, he did a little experiment. A new animal division was created. Those werewolves.

Sauron creates direwolves by summoning dark spirits into the bodies of true wolves. At that time, a new name was created for the island where Minas Tiri was located. The Wizards isle. It seems that Sauron was not a person who only fought and destroyed.

Another instance where he used Sauron's magical powers to good effect was when he captured Barahear's group. There, Sauron manages to make Gorlim appear like his wife. Just like Finrod was shown to Galadriel in the Rings of Power. This is another outstanding ability of Sauron. Manipulation!

👑️ 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭.

This ability of Sauron is clearly visible in the event of Númenor in the second age. At first Sauron said he did what he thought was right. It is the same at this time. Sauron thought he was right. The best example of that is the names he used to introduce himself during this time.

👑️ Tar-Mairon

👑️ King of Kings

👑️ King of Men

From here he used the name Tar-Myron until the destruction of Númenor. But others called him Zigur or Wizard. To the world he is a servant of darkness. But he thought he was still the admirable Myron. At the end of the Second Age, Sauron lost his ability to take a beautiful form.

🐍 𝐒𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫.

A name that goes closely with Sauron is The Deceiver. The reason for this is that Sauron is a master at manipulating others to his will. Again, Sauron is a skilled Maiar. Even smarter than an elf with super magical powers. The best example is when Luthien and Huan fight against Sauron.

This battle, which was summarized in the book The Silmarillion, is detailed in the book Beren and Luthien. Lúthien is the only daughter of Melian the Maiar and Thingol the Elf King. That means half Maiar half elf. One of the elves in Middle Earth who had the best magic power. Morgoth was also put to sleep without Morgoth noticing.

In this battle, Sauron comes disguised as a direwolf. Sauron is a shapeshifter. You can take any form you like. Even of an animal. When Sauron approaches the two in dire wolf form, Luthien faints from his fierce gaze and venomous sigh. It is not because of fear that Luthiyan loses consciousness. At that time, Sauron had the power to knock even a half-maar unconscious. It is Huan who jumps in and saves the lieutenant.

In the end, Huan Luthian joined forces to defeat Sauron and break Sauron's magic in Minas Tirith. Even there, Sauron loses because of his superiority.

So it is not a very difficult task for Sauron, who is so talented, to enter the minds of humans and elves and use them. According to the story of the books, Sauron made the rings using Celebrimbor, a Noldor elf lord. He is able to create a cult for Morgoth in the event of Númenor because of this ability.

I'm not going to talk about the Numenor incident at this time. Because we will be able to take care of it through The Rings of Power.

🛶 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝.

I hope that the questions mentioned at the beginning of the post will be answered. Now let's go to Halbrand, which everyone is talking about these days. If you look carefully from the beginning of the series, you can see several hints that Halbrand is Sauron. But it was not possible to confirm it until the last episode.

As a long-time fan of the Dark Lord, Charlie Vickers is very excited about Sauron. One of the reasons for that is that Sauron's personality was shown well in the series. His manipulating abilities and shapeshifting abilities were shown so beautifully.

One of my favorite scenes in the series, in particular, is the one where he tries to trick Galadriel into his mind. The first and second eras are Sauron's most powerful times. Looking at the two instances where Sauron fought with magic against Luthien, Huan, and Finrod, I personally think that it could have been shown in the last episode.

Finrod is the one who took off his crown and went to Morgoth for Beren. And according to the book Morgoth's Ring, he is the wisest elf from Valinor. Neither Turgon nor Galadriel. According to the story of the books, there are reasons to think that Finrod had more foresight than Galadriel. Although unable to find Finrod's name, Sauron is able to find that he is an elf lord from Valinor. Not only that, Finrod's magic was broken and he was brought to his knees before Sauron's throne.

Looking at that and Luthien's story, I think that Sauron might have been able to infiltrate Galadriel's mind and tempt him like that at that time. Especially Galadriel in the TV series. If it was not possible at that time, then there will be a small problem. No big problem, not a small one. According to the story of the books, even Gandalf, who was a Maar, is afraid of Sauron.

During that mind manipulation, Sauron shows a vision to Galadriel. This is also very controversial these days. Did Sauron tell the truth? Does Sauron want Galadriel to be his queen?

Let's just assume he's telling the truth. But that does not mean that Sauron loves Galadriel or is fascinated by Galadriel. As far as I can see, Sauron is acting there too. Even though Galadriel rejected him, you smiled so beautifully and went to Modor.

I think that will be answered in the second season. But if you look at Sauron's history, you can think of something like this. If he told Galadriel at that time, Sauron would make Galadriel his queen. But he mostly takes advantage of Galadriel and throws him away. Remember, even when Luthien, the most beautiful elf of Arda, came before Sauron, Sauron thought of handing her over to Morgoth to further their plan.

Sauron is a trickster. He has made good plans throughout history. In all the three times he lost to another person, he lost because of arrogance and not because of lack of intelligence or magical power.

From the sight of that raft in the Sundering Sea to winning the heart of Ar Farazon in the royal council of Númenor, and from appearing as the king of the Southlands to winning the heart of Celebrimbor, Sauron's personality was seen very well here.

One more thing. If the Valar had understood Sauron's vision and this order before Morgoth, the situation would have been very different. Because Sauron is not a single black character. He is a gray character. And not like Morgoth. He was in a redeemable condition until the end of the second era. The article was longer than expected. But all this cannot go without saying. Because Sauron is not a traditional villain.

🔍 The Silmarillion, The Unfinished Tales, Beren and Luthien, History of Middle Earth: Morgoth's Ring, Nature of Middle Earth and Letters of Tolkien were included.
